What i want to do is clear all codes and have a fresh start on what is going on . I have tried clearing codes but can not figure it out , must be doing something wrong .. Any help will be greatly appreciated . Thank You in advance ,Doyle

If you are focused first on the Theft Prevention issue, please read here: http://www.caddyinfo.com/passkey.htm

The problem is either that the contacts for the resistor pellet on the key have become worn, or that the ignition tumbler is dirty, or that the contacts within the ignition tumbler and key together have worn to the point that they are not making good contact. Logan has had good luck with coating your key with WD-40 and inserting/cleaning/oiling/inserting/cleaning as a way to use the key to try to clean any gunk out of the ignition tumbler.

The final answer may be that you have to replace the ignition tumbler and keys.

A list of DTC codes for the 99 is here, which is similar to your 98 codes: http://www.caddyinfo.com/dtc_1999.htm

DTC P0300 Engine Misfire Detected

DTC P0463 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Voltage

DTC P1632 Theft Deterrent Fuel Disable Signal Received

DTC B2710 PASSKey Open/Shorted Key Pellet

DTC B2780 PASSKey Wrong Resistor Value Before Good

DTC B1327 Device Power #1 (Low Current #1) Circuit Low

DTC B2119 Lumbar Forward/Aft Sensor Failed

DTC B2120 Lumbar Up/Down Sensor Failed

DTC B0856 Battery 2 Out of Range

DTC B1983 Device Power 1 Circuit Low

DTC B1656 EEPROM Write Error

DTC B2146 Left Front Mirror Horizontal Position Sensor Circuit Low

# DTC C1650 RSS Control Module Fault

The 1998 Eldorado codes were different enough from the 1999 DTC codes page that I added a new page here with the complete listing:

I was going to say....My '99 STS has no resistor pellet on the key. The Eldorado probably still had them at the time, as it had not been switched to the new body style yet. The '99 STS had gone to the "transponder" key, which was not at all the same.

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.

To clear the codes, when it comes up to "pcm?" press the fan up button for "yes" Then it will ask you for "pcm data" press fan down for "no" etc. until you get to "pcm clear codes" press "yes" codes will be cleared for the PCM. You need to go to each area (RSS, IPC, SDM, etc.) to clear them also. You could just unhook the battery for a few minutes and that will clear them all.
