Bruce Nunnally
Left rear brake light confirmed as out with handy assistance from my Better-Half pedal pusher. Consulted my Helm's Shop manual for the 2005 CTS. Opened the trunk, removed the cargo net, and unscrewed the cargo net anchors. The cargo net anchors are also retainers for the rear compartment sill plate, which runs across the back edge of the trunk. Pulled up the rear compartment sill plate. With the sill plate removed, and the net anchors, you can pull the rear compartment trim panel away from the side enough to get in behind it to reach the rear of the taillight assembly. Pulled away the left rear compartment trim panel. Unscrewed the Taillight assembly retaining nuts (2) Left the taillight assembly pass-through piggy tail electrical connection in place. Pulled the tail light assembly away from the car, careful not to stress the electrical connection. Opened the connector retainer for the brake lamp bulb. Replaced the bulb with a longlife bulb (3157LL) Reconnected the bulb retainer Reconnected the taillight assembly to the vehicle Replaced the panels and the cargo net anchors. Easy fix, works after complete, no left over parts. Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
