Bruce Nunnally
Just posted this to another site, http://dadslife2.blogspot.com/ , but repeating here for archiving. No relation to the site owner, just saw it in my normal wandering. Problem: SRX owner pulled his parking brake release, and the release cable broke, so that the handle and cable pulled out. Dealer said come back next week and we'll fix. Driver habitually engages the parking brake, with no way to release it. My Response: Sorry your service visit did not go well. The SRX parking brake release cable actually does not travel a long distance from the release handle. You may be able to follow along the cable pathing to see that it controls a tab on top of the parking brake pedal assembly. If you carefully lift this tab, (or if there is still some cable attached at that end it may be safer to use that) you may be able to release the parking brake manually. Be careful and keep in mind that when the tab is released a portion of the pedal assembly rotates. Here is a partial diagram showing the cable and the release tab that needs to be lifted: http://drupal.caddyinfo.com/?q=node/70 Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
