2003 Deville, new trans, now needs engine oil seal

My 2003 Deville is still under the extended warranty. Just last month, the transmission went and they replaced it with a used trans. As soon as I got it back, started getting intermittent oil leak. Now engine needs to be pulled to replace the major engine oil seal. Since the engine will be pulled out, is there anything I should do to this car while it's out?

I wanted to keep this car running for a few more years and am now wondering if it will make it.

Uses oil (I believe 2 quarts) per 1,000 miles. I read the topic on this and will run it harder and WOT. I started using synthetic oil and I think I will go back to regular oil. Is this OK? Synthetic is really expensive.

I've also had the crank case sensors replaced, the anti-lock braking system went. 2 motor mounts and a front hub. What else could go wrong?

Should I think about getting rid of this car soon? It has 94,000 miles and the warranty runs out at 100,000.

Who is they? A Cadillac dealer service department maybe? I am surprised a dealer would install a used piece.

I would be very suspicious of the timing of these first two events.

GM/Cadillac recommends 5W-30 Starburst (dinosaur) oil products for your engine.

I'm seeing a pattern here that might be, could be, is beginning to possibly appear to be a service department taking advantage of an extended warranty policy. But then, I am a cautious consumer; bordering on suspicious.

The Cadillac service department installed. It's not up to Cadillac, Fidelity, the warranty company, inspects all repairs that are really expensive. Fidelity also provided the trans. It was shipped. Wasn't rebuilt, I assume it was from a wrecked car.
