SIXXDOGG
Hi everyone...I was just reading the other post....about the guy smelling gas and I saw that there was a recall on the car for this... What is this and how many recalls for the car were there? I dont think none were done for mine... Would I still be able to get recalls done? Where I put gas in....you know....unscrew the cap.....well....the part the cap screws onto is all rusted..... Thank you Nick
Cadillac Jim
There was a recall in 1998 for Northstars built to that time to replace the plastic fuel rail with a stainless steel fuel rail. Your car may have been built with a stainless steel fuel rail. Get the VIN handy and call your dealer and ask him if it needs it. With the VIN, they can tell whether or not your car was made with the stainless steel fuel rail, and if not, whether it ever was in for the recall. The only other recall that I know about was to replace some early 1998 alternators. Again, with your VIN in hand, call a Cadillac dealer and ask him if there are any outstanding recalls on your car. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. KHE
The recall was for the '95-'97 Northstar engines and it was for the fuel rail which is on top of the intake manifold. WarrenJ
Here's the recall (in part). Regards, Warren FuelRail.doc There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
