thaghost87
Hey you guys.. im getting a fuel smell when i run my heat.. does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be?
MAC
I suggest you open the hood to see if you can spot anything obvious or smell where the fuel smell is most concentrated. The exterior fuel line might be a damaged or perhaps the fuel rail is leaking which is under the beauty cover.
winterset
Check the board for "fpr" Fuel pressure regulator. is it hard to start? I believe the test is to remove the rubber vaccum line & you should not see fuel in the line

thaghost87
The car starts fine.. and the fuel rail might be a good explanation, for the fact that they are on recall for the 95 sts's.. but since they are on back order i have to wat to get it fixed. And where would i find the FPR?
BodybyFisher
Check above the drivers side rear wheel, the filler pipe from the nozzle entry to the tank rots and gets pitted and leaks, see REGIS's blog, Mike PS, my 96's is rusted badly Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
If you have not had the fuel rail recall done yet and you are smelling gas, be very careful as you most likely have a fuel leak. I would not drive it till you locate and repair the leak.

JohnnyG
This also may explain your poor fuel economy that you stated in another post. Be careful, get this fixed immediately. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
WarrenJ
Get the fuel leak fixed pronto! Here's some encouragement . . . There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
Texas Jim
Get the fuel leak fixed pronto! Here's some encouragement . . . I cringe every time I see that picture. My first DTS, (which I loved) burned in my garage fire, so I kinda sorta know how you feel. The (identical) replacement DTS just don't feel the same, for some reason. Baby.... RIP. BodybyFisher
Dana, where are you located? I had gotten a recall notice from GM via my registration. How long do you own your car. You probably can get this job done for free if you speak to a dealer, we all had our fuel rails replaced if it was in the recall around 2004, I am not sure if the campaign is still open.
