kevinray
Received "service charging system" from info center on dash. Assumed alternator, and replaced unit w/ new battery. Few days later, I am receiving same message, "service charging system" with no pcm or other codes coming from computer. Is computer bad? This is frustrating. Ranger
Did you replace it with an AC Delco alternator? Someone on this board recently replaced one with an aftermarket alternator and could not get rid of the no charge light. Seems there is some special circuitry missing in the aftermarkets so the pcm does not "see" the new alternator.
trmnatr
Check for corrosion in your battery cables. Common problem on that era Caddy. Will cause low voltage and same message. Good Luck.
