Ranger
Yesterday when I went to start my baby, she balked at me. Got the "wait 3 minutes" msg. I measured the resistor pellet against my spare and found the contacts to be .015 less than the spare in width. So I guess it's time for a new key although it started fine on the second try. In searching the archives I found a discussion which leads me to believe these keys are no longer available. I did find a post with a name and email address of a guy that said he had them for $20 shipped. I emailed him and have not gotten a response yet. The post was over a year old so I don't have too much hope. Does anyone have any leads on these gold keys for a reasonable price or am I stuck with getting the one of the chrome keys? I checked ebay but all I came up with was the old (pelletless) gold keys.
GOOB
If he replies to you let us (me) know. I need an extra set. If it's the same guy, I bought a set from him last year and they worked great.
adallak
Larry, How about putting an appropriate resistor in the circuite and continuing using your favorite gold key? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Ranger
GOOB, will advise if I get a response. I think his name was Tom McCrory. adallak, I want to keep the vats system intact. I'll switch to the old chrome key if I have to.
KHE
Larry, I sent Tom three e-mails on the gold keys about eight months ago and never received a reply... Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
Ranger
Larry, I sent Tom three e-mails on the gold keys about eight months ago and never received a reply... Thanks KHE, Dealers are quoting $30-$36 for chrome keys. One said he "has a few" gold keys. I found a place that has chrome ones with black plastic caps (not as nice as gold) but they are about $15 with shipping. Guess I'll have to contact them. Ranger
Got my email returned today "undeliverable" so I guess McCrory is out of buisness. Guess I'll have to go with the chrome key.
cardio-doc
Hello: I originally discovered Tom 2+ years ago. He's gone and out of gold keys. That all said - I still can get them for $75/set delivered. Need your resistor value and door code ("H" "D" etc). I found a Cadillac dealer who stock-piled them and is calling the shots. Picked up a set for gf's Black/Black 94 SLS. She's tickled over them. cheers, ~Doc --- Direct Performance on Ebay CaddyInfo.com Cadillac Conversations Blog

Logan
I actually hated the gold keys. I had one of the local Pontiac dealers make me a standard GM set for $20. Josh
maybe of you drive down to your local caddy dealer.... or if you take a look on ebay you might find something. Tell me if the dealer has em.
cardio-doc
Logan: I definitely hear you on the Gold Keys, but gf wants to 'pimp' out her ride. She has me on the look-out for a gold/chrome Rolls-Royce grill! Guys - you can try your local dealer and maybe he'll have some old keys - but it's a stretch. As for eBay - there are never 'chipped' keys on there - never keys with the resistor chip. Believe me - this is no 'money-maker'. I'm just offering this as a courtesy to anyone that wants a set. You have to remember that I deal with ALOT of Cadillac dealers. I know the mentality and also I know this part. One guy - stockpiled a bunch of these a few years ago and now he's the only one I know who has them. cheers, ~Doc --- Direct Performance on Ebay CaddyInfo.com Cadillac Conversations Blog
Ranger
Thanks doc, but $75 is a bit steep for a key. While I like the gold key, for that price I can live with chrome.

Will your dealer sell just an ignition key and if so, how much? I have my key codes but there is not a letter stamped on the key like the old GM keys. How do I tell if it's a J, K, A, B or is that part of the key code? cardio-doc
Guys - I know the price isn't cheap - I'm just offering this along is all. Ignition key only is $52. There is no code stamped in the ignition key with a resistor pellet. We just need the resistor value. You can get this at any GM dealer's parts counter - just walk up to the counter, present your old key and ask for the resistor value. cheers, ~Doc --- Direct Performance on Ebay CaddyInfo.com Cadillac Conversations Blog

KenD
$5.00 for a silver key. Heck, who cares? The gold on my key has all rubbed off anyways so it might as well be silver. 1994 STS Pearl White 260,000 KM (163,000 miles) <img src="http://img45.photobucket.com/albums/v137/caesar/caddycaesar.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" />
Ranger
I found a dealer in Libertyville Ill who has some. He qouted $35. That's still expensive considering the price you can get a silver one for one the ebay link that clutterking posted, but the best price I've seen for gold (if you can find one). My local hardware store will cut it for $1.29. Anyway, if anyone is interseted the dealer is Weil Cadillac 847-362-4100. I don't know if they will ship it to you or not but check your resistor value and compare it to the list on cluttergings ebay link so you have the key number. Ranger
I decided for the difference in price I would go with the nickle plated key. However I wanted to let you guys know that I talked to Marc at "Marcs locks and keys" (803-827-5397) per clutterkings link and he does have Gold Keys if anyone is interseted for $35 though they are not listed on his ebay store.
