Changing antifreeze from green to red liquid.

This question has probably been up a couple of times before but anyhow as I am doing an

overhaul of a 93-94 Northstar I would like to know if I should stay with the old green

(here in Sweden most often blue) or change to Dexcool or its red correspondents.

It is very easy to do the change now as everything is empty - but is it good?

Is the red doing a better job as corrosion inhibitor or is it just lasting longer?

5 years between changes or 2 years for the old green.

Stay with the green coolant - the coolant passages are plated with the silicates from the green coolant and that will deplete the corrosion inhibitors in the DexCool which means changine the coolant every 2 years/24,000 miles.

Hi may I suggest that you maintain the PH balance just slightly alcaline and you willnot have corrosion issues in the cooling system or between dissimilar metals. Thanks Eric
