raz
My car has been at the dealer for 4 days. Tey seem to be having a problem changing a crossover bar for the cooling system. Does anyone know exactly what they are replacing and why there is a problem? It may be called a crossover pipe or tube and i was told they are having problems. Any help is appreciated Thanks
Ranger
It is called a crossover manifold. The gaskets are known to leak on 2000+ engines. Mine had a small leak. Big job, but not 4 days. They did mine in a day.

raz
I am not familar with this manifold. Do you think they could have broke a bolt off in the block or something, just guessing.
BodybyFisher
Could it be the coolant crossover I changed on my 96?, with the 4 seals? Big job, here is the crossover job I did on my car during the summer http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=crossover Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Anything is possible. The crossover is the manifold that connects the two heads together so coolant can flow from one side to the other since the intake manifold is "dry". It also houses the water pump.
BodybyFisher
Its not an easy job, but for the dealer it should have been a cake walk. Its possible they crossed the threads or broke a bolt, putting the wrong bolt in the wrong hole, I think there are 3 different length bolts Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
raz
The car is still at the dealer. They gave me a rental and said the work should be completed by tuesday. I questioned the service mgr.,asking what the problem was. He said there was another pipe that was about to leak and he ordered that part. I asked if a bolt had broke off or something only to get a reply of we need to change this other pipe. I am only mad because i know if something did go wrong they ain't saying. I will follow up when i get any other info.
JimD
Something is starting to smell bad here. One option you should consider is to make an appointment (tomorrow) with the highest level management/ownership person that you can reach and put that person on notice that you are not satisfied with the level of feedback coming from their Service Department. Put the events and details in writing. Give them a copy. Request (demand?) written answers. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
