koushka
For about the last month every now and again the caddy is shifting hard out of park. Each time it does this my wife shuts her down and starts it back and seems to be ok. I pull the codes and consistently get the PCM P1122 Throttle position sensor circuit intermittent low voltage. I would say 3 or 4 times it has done this. This last time it thru a SES light and a P0122 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage. Doing some digging on the forums I came across this post by BBF: TPS Bulletin So, I am confident in saying my TP sensor or wiring to it might need some adjusting/replacing. What do you guys think and do you know the location of the sensor? thank you very much in advance Peter
Ranger
I think the TPS is highly suspect.
BodybyFisher
That must be very old, I don't think I have even thought about the TPS on this 96 and I don't recall making that statement. Do you have a link to that statement? Does this appear related to the SAFETY LOCK, where you need to push the brake to release it from PARK? koushka
I thought I put a link in the first post, Nov. 2005, here it is: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...36&hl=p0122 No, I don't think the shift solenoid is the problem because I disabled it with the emergency switch they have in the console. It is just a mechenism that holds the solenoid disengaged while in park.
BodybyFisher
OH, now I understand, that was an article from Autotap.. that was not my car that was being discussed Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
winterset
Can we view the TPS values through the DIC? That autotap article was very generic.
koushka
I was hoping when I found it I could just hook up a voltmeter to it. Would be great if it was in the DIC.
koushka
So I looked under the hood today and found the throttle cable which was hooked up to an interesting contraption. I thru some cleaner on it and took the 3 electrical plugs out and blew on them put them back in. When I get some time I will try to figure out to post the pictures of the thing to maybe get some help on what is the actual TP sensor.
