Coolant Leak

Its on the passenger side, a metal type hose has sprung a leak on the 98 Deville, I can't tell where it starts or ends (to dark out) but it appears to very rusted and runs along the wheel well.

It also doesn't appear to be able to replace easily.....the overflow discharges next to it.

any info on what that hose/pipe could be? transmission cooler return or something along those lines?

Could it be the heater pipes? See #5 and #6, there are also three hoses 1, 2 and 4, I have replaced the three hoses and the heater pipes

Looks like one of the heater pipes to me. The hoses are permanently attached. There are three (pipes) - replace all three and the two green silicon hoses on the opposite end...

Best price and delivery is Brasington Cadillac in Gainesville, Fl.

Tight fit, not much room, best way to do it is to sit on top of the engine, cut the old hoses and remove the hold pipes, then install the new ones - assembly is the reverse of disassembly.

The hoses on the 96 are not permanently attached, there is a clamp at both ends that allows replacement of the hoses.

Was the heater lines after I got a good look at where they go and such....except I didn't have the honor of attemtping the repair, dad took it to the local shop while I was at work. Both replaced, both in bad shape.....book calls for 6 hours of labor, guy took all day, shop charged for 4 :) I wouldn't have had time until the weekend so I guess this was the best solution...why the choose such a sensitive metal to rust I don't know...then agian the car is almost 10 years old...

I had my carriage dropped and it was STILL a biach of a job and took me about an hour, this is one to leave to the professionals.... glad you got it fixed and thanks for reporting this back, its good to know that these pipes can go in ten years, mine were certainly rusted badly but not leaking but it was a ticking timebomb..I now see

Yeah they were really bad, for a car that has never been garaged, driven often on the salty winter water highways, I'm surprised the only thing that has rusted threw are heater lines :P Next time on the rack I'll have a look at the rest of the car and take some notes on what could go next.
