It's not all the time it's been maybe 5 times since I had the car that it cuts off

Knee jerk response is failing crankshaft position sensor(s). Depending on what month your car was first put in service, you might be warranty covered.

But you should display the trouble codes and list them for us; http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html

Knee jerk = first suspected failure without any evidence for or against.

P0335 - CKP Sensor A Circuit Performance

P1106 - Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage

P0335 is pointing directly at the A crankshaft position sensor. That is causing your stalls. Replace both the A & B sensors.

P1106 could be a nuisance code; clear your codes and see if you get P1106 again.

B2643 ?

P0335 CKP Sensor A Circuit Performance

P1106 Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage

The CKP is the crankshaft position sensor, which gives trouble on some 2000-2002 Northstars. It's not generally a problem in other model years but nothing should be ruled out when the DTC points a finger.

Since you have History codes on the CKP A and MAP sensors on a 1998 model year car (nine years old), I suspect that the connectors are loose on both. I had a P1106 occasionally once, and the car shifted rough and there was some loss of performance when the code was current. The MAP sensor is readily available if you remove the cover over the fuel injectors. I had mine in my hand and thought that it looked pretty good, so I cleaned it up, made sure that the connector was tight, and put it back in. I've never had a problem since. This was a couple of years ago. So, I recommend that you look at the MAP sensor connector, and the CKP Sensor A connector. The CKP Sensor A is low in the center of the block on the front below and to the right of the dipstick, and goes right into the block.

If the connectors are clean and tight on either sensor and the code and/or stalling comes back, change the sensor.

I don't have anything on the B2643 code from the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) -- that's the fob. If the battery in it is over 5 years old, or if it's possible that you sat on the buttons and rand down the battery, I would change the battery. Then I would reset this code and see if it comes back. If it comes back, you may need to resynchronize it with the car or reprogram the car for it. If the car doesn't "see" it then you may need to clean the contacts inside it, which is rare -- they use O-ring sealing for the fob and it stays pretty clean in there.

Actually, the CKP sensors will fail on nearly EVERY 2000 - early 2003 Northstar. Follow JimD's advice and replace them both and your problem will be solved.

Whoops, I was looking at the profile block which said 1998 Deville, but the message said it was a 2003. Ranger is right, the crankshaft sensors themselves should be changed first. Even if they aren't the cause of a problem today, this will eliminate them and avoid the inevitable later, and will amost certainly solve the problem.
