Devin O'Conor
In trying to order an alternator, I was told I need the part number because there are 2 different ones. Even a dealer parts dept told me this. Apparently there are 2 different pulley sizes. I am guessing the larger pulley is for the Concours because the engine revs higher. Can anyone tell me what alternator part number I need for a 1998 DeVille VIN Y? I'm not sure how to figure it out without removing the alternator and I need to keep driving the car until I get the new one. K.O.T.
Cadillac Jim
The dealer should be able to order the correct part given the complete, full VIN number of your car. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. beetlejuice
I don't know about on one as new as yours. Mine is a 92 Deville and it also has 2 listed. One is for the heated windshield, and the other is for the non heated windshield. I think the difference is in the amprege, well it is on mine. bschelle
I just replaced my 99 Deville. It was dependant on the pulley diameter. I was able to measure it while it was still on the car!
