beg
Hi I wonder if someone can give me advise about what scan tool i should buy. Is it worth to pay for an expensive like AutoXray EZ 6000 or should I buy a cheap simply codereader. I have a STS -02, and others older GM cars. So I need both OBD I and II. But for the cars with OBD I I normally use the onboard reading system I have now got a service engine soon light and I think it has with the filler cap to do, because it first occured when I filled up the car with gas. The deflector in the filler pipe don't close as it use to do. In the instruction book they only say that I should try to turn off and on the filler cap. I tried with out success. Then after a while the SES went of but it has now turned on again. I aslo wonder if there are any good solutions for drive on E85 in the STS -02? With best regards Bengt from Sweden
Ranger
Here are a few. The bottom one is the one I have for my non Cadillac vehicles. They all do pretty much the same thing. Don't know much about AutoXray, but I have seen some that will charge $80-$100+ and not do much more than the one shown for $39, so read up on what they will do. http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/...+&Submit=Go
BodybyFisher
I suppose you know you can read the OBD II system in your 02 just like you do the onboard system in your OBD I car? Its not a flexible for over rides etc, but you can get codes. What are you trying to do besides read and identify codes? I have the Service Manual for a 97 STS (that I owned before) in this i says it's only possible to read codes with a scan tool. How shall i do for reading codes with DIC or do i need to use jumper cable as in OBD I system? With a scan tool I want to be able to read dtc's, see values and others. I haven't used any scan tool before but I thought it was time to get one now. Me and my friends drives several diffrent GM cars so I think it would be a good idea to have one for coming problems. JimD
Almost any aftermarket interface will display P codes; none of them allow you to input any parameters. Some of the computer type interface boxes will display various engine operating conditions. I have been using the BR-3 model from this page http://obddiagnostics.com/index.html for more than 5 years and find it usefull with any make in the family fleet (OBDII). Jim Drive your car. KHE
Simultaneously press and hold the OFF and INFO UP buttons on the climate control panel and that should display the codes. I'd use the onboard diagnostics over a scan tool. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
BodybyFisher
You have an ON BOARD diagnotics system that will give you all diagnotic codes on the emissions, suspension, AC, ABS, electrical, etc. You DO NOT need to go out and buy a code reader that will ONLY give you emissions codes. Your on board system will give you EVERYTHING. See the links given, do what KHE said, and check out these links http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Original Service Manual books costs in Sweden about $500-600 Wich is the best webstore to buy Cadillac parts, i have only bought from Summit Racing so far but they only have the most common things. Once more thank you for all help.
