Marcus815
There's many programs you can use to make a duplicate of that disc. DVDFabDecrypter is a free one which will take the files directly off that disc assuming it's a DVD.
JIMDTS
It's done deal I made a copy of the nav map/cd & it works great I had to go purchase some 8.5gig dvd's I was trying to shrink the data to fit on 4.7gig dvd's NO Luck Any way it works It's a slow burn process with the 8.5gig dvd's to burn the cd it took a little over 43minutes to do 7.6+gig at 2.4x a little over 11 minutes to verify to disk all is well Office depot had the best price on dvd's 30 bucks for 25 disks I had a $10 off twenty coupon so it was almot twenty bucks plus tax for 25 dvd's I hardly ever use the 8.5gig disks I use the 4.7 gig disks much cheaper I had to reflash the firmware on my cd burner it would not even read the nav cd with the old firmware the burner is abot 15 months old I guess it's time for a new cd burner Jim

No need to buy another one.
JIMDTS
Hi Texas Jim I'll look for a bargain for the cd burner They are cheap enough You can usually find them in the $20+ to $40 dollar range I always upgrade my pc's trying to keep them up to date I made the map cd so I can use the copy & keep the original as the master The NAV system does not work properly without the map cd NO MAPS The cd that came with the car has the whole united states on it I see many versions of these cd's I will hunt around & burn some copies of other cd's to find out what works best Some of my friends have Lexus & Infinity cars which Denso makes the nav system for cadillac, lexus, infinity & others I'm just curious to find out what other features they may offer Jim

It may be better / have more features than the Cadillac DVD. Keep me informed of what you find out. I should be getting my new (free) update DVD in about another couple of months. With a new car, you are supposed to get 2 free updates. One each year for the first 2 years. I bought this one Christmas of last year. (It was our Christmas present) I think they notify you about a month before your anniversary. I will be making a copy of it also. In case the one in the car gets scratched somehow. JIMDTS
Hi TJ It would be a good idea to make a copy of your NAV cd you use now Never know with CD’s they can go bad then you have to hunt another one. I made the copy just in case. I use the copy in the car so far it works fine maybe even better than the original. I’ll keep the original at home I just leave the NAV cd in the NAV system all the time some guys take it out when not in use. To much hassle. It’s cool the way the display pops up to change or update the map cd. I have been playing around with the NAV system just another toy. They are good on trips when you do not know the area. If you know where you are going or where you are at you really don’t need the nav system. The POI feature is nice you can find hotels, atm’s, resteraunts etc I’ll keep playing with it until it becomes second nature I still did not read the manual I just push buttons & see what happens More fun that wayIf I find other features with other makers cd's I'll let you know & make you a copy Never know what features may work I bet it's all the same system just with different firmware for the features they want to use I know cadillac did not include bluetooth which would have been NICE probably do to ONSTAR so you have to go through them Maybe I can figure out how to tap into some features The key is getting the firmware I have friends who know how to dump the firmware & make me a copy it will be interesting Not sure what talks to what on the car yet but I will Jim
Texas Jim
Jim, On our recent trip, the Nav came in handy several times. We were off on the back roads in Mo and Ky. Sometimes we would not have known "WHERE" we were if not for the Nav. A couple of times.. we knew where we wanted to "GO"..but not really where we were... so I set the Nav and let it (more or less) guide me there. I like how, if you don't go the way "IT" thinks you "SHOULD" go... it re-figures your route to your destination. Real cool toy. It also came in handy a few months ago out in the canyon lands of Southern Utah. You can drive 20 or 30 miles out there with out seeing ANYBODY. Several times we drove for a half hour at a time and didn't even see another car. S Utah and N Arizona, in the middle of nowhere, on secondary roads.... cell phones DO NOT WORK. The built in car phone always worked .. the few times I used it. Love my toys.
