22chet
I have a '91 Cadillac seville with the 4.9 that the fuel pump has gone out of. I was wondering where the fuel pump it located on this model ? Also if there is anything i should need to know before i try and change it i.e. special tools ? adallak
It's in th efuel tank. You have to drop the tank to get the pump out. Are you sure it is the pump and not relay or something else (wiring)? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

How do i check the relay ? The fuel pump relay is mounted in a relay center behind the glove box. Check for loose connections. You may also apply 12 volts and see if it works with an ohm-volt meter. In case you have to replace the pump , remove only back bolts holding the tank straps. You will also need to disconnect quick connect type connections on the fuel lines. Clean the area up before disconnecting and lubricate the o-rings with motor oil before reconnecting. You do not need any special tools to replace the pump. Make sure the tank is nearly empty before dropping. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

The manual recommends hand operated pump used through the filler neck. My tank was nearly empty when I replaced it because of a leak. Ed Hall
ive tried to siphon the tank but i guess this year has a safety screen or whatever it is, what is the best way to get it all out ? I was also unable to get a hose into the tank on my 88 Eldorado. I ended up having to lower the tank with it full of gas. Ouch!!
Ranger
I think there is a baffle that will prevent siphoning. That is probably what it is there for. Might try removing t he filler pipe first. I believe that is where the baffle is.
