93STSpieceofcrapmoneypit
Had a nice 1-1/2 year run with NO PROBLEMS.... now the beatings will continue apparently... 1993 STS N* Here's the deal guys : Key in - turns on - ding ding ding - MONITORING SYSTEM OK- everything's perfect - Battery Volts 13.9 - NOW, I go the last step to start it and ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING! Nothing happens... Resembles a dead batt or a charging prob, but I have a week old new batt and plenty of Volts. Throwing NO CODES. Tried a jump, for grins and giggles. Didn't help. Still nothing. Dead in the water. One week ago, I couldn't turn it off. The key position was stuck ON. I was freaked out. I was in a big hurry, so I gave it a bionic HOO-HAAH and cranked it OFF. Now, the key is somewhat loose. I can pull it out about 1/4 inch when it's in the ignition. What have I done, and what part will I be ordering from Rock Auto???? I know someone knows the answer to this ignition mystery.... thanks for any input and help gents... With your user name being what it is I'd have to be hard pressed. I, however, do find it entertaining. The definition of an enthusiast is "a person filled with enthusiasm" or " one who is ardently attached to a cause, object, or pursuit." Then there is my personal favorite "one who tends to become ardently absorbed in an interest." I would call the last one fanatic, bordering on unhealthy. I think I'd rather be an enthusiast as opposed to a fanatic. CADS RULE DUDES! Alright Alright Alright...
Bruce Nunnally
Ignition tumbler and new key seem likely, especially when you say this part: One week ago, I couldn't turn it off. The key position was stuck ON. I was freaked out. I was in a big hurry, so I gave it a bionic HOO-HAAH and cranked it OFF. Ranger
Yeah, and if that fails, then the switch farther down the column, but from what you said, I kind of agree with Bruce.

Soon you'll have it stuck in the middle of the desert with the Armadillo. A year and a half with no problems is pretty good for a '93. 93STSpieceofcrapmoneypit
Ignition tumbler and new key seem likely..... Oh crap.... the humanity of it all. So I can turn the car on and get power in the cabin etc, but no ignition start. Big Bertha knows I have the key in her, but doesn't know I'm trying to turn her over???? Did I snap off an end tumbler or something?? Mommy!!!! With your user name being what it is I'd have to be hard pressed. I, however, do find it entertaining. adallak
My money's on the broken actuator inside of the column. Ten bucks part but half of the column should be disassembled to replace it. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

Big Bertha knows I have the key in her, but doesn't know I'm trying to turn her over???? Wait a minute. Adallak may be on to something. I actually considered it myself, but didn't mention it based on what you originally said. The key tumbler actuates a sliding switch down the column via a connecting rod. You may have bent the rod, have a bad switch, or a combination of them. Some exploratory surgery is in order.
