jvoortman
I have a 1998 Deville, and over the past couple months the load levellers seem to be dying. Sometimes when back seat is full it doesn't lift up (and it bottoms out when pulling out of driveways), and recently there is a terrible rattling sound coming from the rear end. The upside is when the rattling does happen the car does lift up, but when the rattling doesn't occur the car doens't lift up to the normal driving position. Is there an inexpensive fix anyone can suggest? A freind suggested seeing if it were possible to put in some air shocks that would be filled up manually with an air hose at the gas station. Thank you for any help you may offer!!!
Ranger
Sounds like a bad compressor. Cheapest fix would be to get a "new" one from a junk yard. Start by pulling the DTC's.

Thank you for any help you may offer!!! Don't install some cheap air shocks that you need to manually fill... You have a leak in the system, bad ride height sensor, bad compressor relay, or a bad compressor. Trace the air lines from the shocks to the compressor - pay close attention where the lines are near moving suspension components. If you find a rupture in the lines, GM sells a repait splice for $3.00.
