Bruce Nunnally
What do you get with the 08 STS that you would miss if you get an 08 CTS? Scanning through the order books for each, these are the things that jump out as standard or available on the STS that are not available on the CTS: a) available Stabilitrak 3.0, with Magnetic ride control. V8 AWD only. 3" more wheelbase and more rear leg room, but 100 lbs more weight c) standard rear parking assist d) Available Lane Departure Warning Alert system e) Available Side Blind Zone Alert system f) Available heads-up display g) Available heated rear outboard seats h) Available heated steering wheel i) standard 8-way power driver & passenger seats (available on CTS) j) DI VVT 3.6L 302hp engine standard (304hp DI3.6L requires 1SB option for CTS) At $42,385 a base V6 STS with wood trim options costs somewhat more than a 1SB CTS at $38,135 with wood trim options. OynxSTS
k) Rear seat A/C "zone" and controls l) Adaptive Cruise control braking system My POV, $4,200 (about 12%, where I live that is less then the sales tax on these cars) is a small price to pay to get the bigger, and better looking car. Of course GM's marketing effort and the sales volumes don't support my opinion. I almost NEVER see 2005+ STS's on the road... If they are selling where are they going? I actually see more Allantes on the road in my town then new STS's. Its really sad. While everyone is pushing GM to take Cadillac more upscale and compete against MB, Rolls and Bentley... The customers are flocking to the entry level car. Most of the Caddy insiders on the GMinsider news site are predicting the death of the STS by 2010... If that happens that will be a day almost as dark as the day that GM put the shiv into Oldsmobile Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back ZZTOP, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide Greg
Dasher
I recently read that Stabilitrak 3 will not be available until sometime next year. I can't believe they would do away with the STS; but they have to do something to make it more competitive with their new CTS. I drove the 2008 STS and felt nothing for it. I thought I would be an STS driver for the rest of my life but I left the dealership without buying a car. When I drove the 08 CTS, I was blown away; not only be the performance which is spectacular; but by the styling. The interior of the STS, in my opinion, looks cheap next to the CTS. The leather looks inferior and there is nothing exciting about it.
abad95
The reason for that is that they are way smaller now,and cheaper interior. I looked at the 2005+STS and noticed no wood on the door panels. What's up with that? The reason I like STS is that they were large and powerful. Why did the bring a 6 Cyl STS when we have the CTS for that? They need the 12 Cyl Northstar.Period. Bring back the STS's! Florin
Patrick7997
Some of us are still mourning and grieving over the death of our beloved and legendary Eldorado.... And there's no more Fleetwoods.... I suppose it's only natural to take another winner, the STS, and discontinue it.... /bitterness mode off Sorry.... FWIW, I've seen several of the new STS-4's up here... going all to rear wheel drive is great if you live in Naples, FL, but up here in the snow belt, front or 4 wheel drive is awfully nice to have.... Here in the snowbelt, in my vaguely upscale subdivision, the STS-4 is being well received....
Bruce Nunnally
I like the look of the STS, except for the front hood, and that is growing on me somewhat. It would be a hard call between a STS V8 with more features and a CTS DI3.6L if they were priced similarly, say a on-sale 07 STS and a not on sale 08 CTS. Texas Jim
Some of us are still mourning and grieving over the death of our beloved and legendary Eldorado.... And there's no more Fleetwoods.... I have had a couple of Fleetwood Brougham de Elagance's. Loved them. Indicator lights on the front fenders and up over the rear window. Trash receptacle under the dash on the right side. Super comfortable Button Tufted leather seats that were big enough to be called Cadillac seats. etc etc etc

WarrenJ
Some of us are still mourning and grieving over the death of our beloved and legendary Eldorado.... Mourn, mourn, mourn . . . . . oh yeah, . . . . . grieve, grieve, grieve . . . . . :( There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
