JimD
Due to circumstances too depressing to describe here, I was unable to do my own oil - filter change. Since Wal-Mart is the source of the oil I wanted to use (SuperTech 10W-40), I bought an ACDelco PF-61 filter elsewhere and took the car to my local Wal-Mart early on a Thursday morning. After telling the "service writer" in great detail what I wanted done, she agreed they could and would do exactly what I asked. And they did! While I watched. I'm impressed. Jim Drive your car. PAUL T
This might sound like a Walmart Commercial but it is all true. We were headed home from a vacation in Cincinnati, Ohio in our 88 Cutlass Supreme Classic when the "check engine" light came on. I had my wife pull over and I inspected the engine compartment and underneath the car for any signs of a cause. While checking under the car I noticed that the tie rod end was dropped down and not hanging on by much. It was almost 5:00p.m. and I did not think I could find a place in Cincinnati that was open that would not skin us alive. We pulled to the nearest exit and noticed a Walmart. They were in the process of closing the auto shop and told me to come back tomorrow. I explained that we would be camped out on the lot all night because I was out of cash and did not want to drive the car any further. One mechanic felt sorry for us and decided to stay over and fix the car. After about an hour and a half of passing time in the store I checked and the mechanic had just finished the alignment and said he was done. I thanked him and braced myself for what the bill would be. To my suprise it only cost around $50.00 and only 2 hours after finding the problem we were on our way back home. I never did figure out why the engine light came on. Somebody up above was watching out for us. As bad as I hate to admit it, I gained more respect for Walmarts auto shops after that. Get well soon JimD.
