Logan
Sorry Bruce. The 'new' wood look is a bit much. My vote is for the last version.. That being said. I have a question. When I go to the bottom of a page it will display 'low-fi version.' Whats that? Is there a Hi-fi version? Bruce Nunnally
The lo-fi version is a limited skin that shows only text, but does not have an easy way to post or reply, just read threads. It is available for people who still have a very low speed connection, although it also gets some play on the search engines and people find the site via the lo-fi showing up in search results. Sorry to hear you don't enjoy the new Smoothwood skin, but that's a benefit of being a Supporter is you have choices Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

My little dog Nick has been having intestinal issues lately, so the other sceen was a bad reminder... Bruce, OK to try new and all - but thank God you gave us contributers a way out. Fine inverse marketing sense I suppose. Do thay have and Shale leather or Burled Walnut skins? Kind of a of risque website for page overlays don't you think? Tomorrow I'll rething this mess, OK then, on to finish the dang box o vino... Hic, sigh and ottr hre Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning. Bruce Nunnally
Logan, The full-featured (hi-fi) skins are for example "Caddyinfo Classic" or "Caddyinfo Smoothwood". The lo-fi skin is "lo-fi version", and is accessible by clicking "lo-fi version" at the bottom center of the screen (not in the skin selector oddly enough). There are no lo and hi-fi versions of each skin; there is only one lo-fi skin that is accessible from any other skin. The lo-fi skin is text only, no images whatsoever. It does sort of remind one of the old beseen board Caddyinfo was on along the way, but it has limited functionality. Mostly as I say we get traffic through the search engines there. Bruce Nunnally
Do thay have and Shale leather or Burled Walnut skins? I can check on a Leather or Walnut skin. Is it the coloring you feel you don't like with the Smoothwood? Kind of a of risque website for page overlays don't you think? Can you say this a different way? I am not sure that I understand what you mean. Thank you both for commenting. I would prefer to hear what people think than not. Bruce Nunnally
Here is a site with various professionally done skins for the current board by the same people that did Smoothwood: http://www.theskinemporium.com/forums/inde...de=00&cat=4 I like the Patriot Games skin: http://www.theskinemporium.com/forums/inde...=01&img=219 and one of the other Smooth Skins, smoothgrey: http://www.theskinemporium.com/forums/inde...e=01&img=21 whose background reminds one of perforated leather. WarrenJ
At first I was a little put-off by the wood skin. In short order, however, it grew on me. I'm likin' it. Now I haven't looked at it on another machine, but on the notebook I use at home the "wood" looks distinctively walnut. Definitely not zebrano. Yes, I know it's picayune . . . . . . Bruce Nunnally
If anyone has photoshop skills and would like to make us a new and improved banner for the top of the site please let me know. Pretty open as long as it is around that size, matches the focus of the site, and looks terrific. MAC
Here is another skin site with free skins: VBSKINS. Maybe downloading some free skins might be a way to enhance the site and satisfy different skin tastes.
Bruce Nunnally
Caddyinfo uses IPB 2.3.x, so sites with skins for this system would be the best to browse. There is some maintenance and customization with each skin, which can also have to be updated with each release of the forum software. So my thinking is to offer a default Smoothwood skin, the classic, then perhaps one more. Regis
I have to agree with Logan and some others. I'm not crazy about the new smoothwood skin. It's too much wood and I find it to be a bit boring visually speaking. I agree that it would not be a good choice as the default setting. However, I think it would be fine as an option for logged in members. Personally I think it lacks a certain snappiness. And brown has never been known to be snappy. The classic skin may not be the best but it beats the smoothwood hands down. That's my 2 cents. The color and texture are just too dull and not "woodlike", for me anyway. Looks more like a plastic comb. I think the skin in this usage, should resemble a Caddy's interior. Zebrano Wood as noted earlier would be outstanding. I meant to type "Risqué", as in a provacative name. "The Skin Emporium" evokes a website of other objectives, but then that's marketing I suppose. Bruce Nunnally
Pls have a look at "Caddyinfo Smoothwood NoBack" skin selection, which makes the simple reduction of the wood paneling behind the forum. That does seem to make the page somewhat less busy while keeping the wood touches I enjoy. WarrenJ
OK then, I should not have been TWI (typing while intoxicated). Good thing you're in Nevada. That's probably a misdemeanor in next door Cally-fornia :D They're like that, you know. Regards, Warren There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion.
