P1153 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1

This is the oxygen sensor high on the manifold against the firewall. Probably the wire or connector is loose.

There are other codes that would suggest circuit integrity problems. I understand that 'Insufficient Switching' is a sensor performance characterisation, possibly related to silicon contamination or normal wear and tear. It is important to note that some aftermarket oxygen sensors exhibit performance characteristics that differ significantly from the OEM parts.

Also, I believe the bank closest to the firewall is #1 (since cylinder #1 is located there, near the coil pack). Bank #2 would be the front bank.

Bank 2 Sensor 1 is on the FRONT (left) manifold.

You do not need a scanner. Use the on board diagnostics. Simultaneously press and hold the OFF & WARMER buttons. DTC's will be displayed. Answer yes to the prompts with the HIGH FAN button and no with the LOW FAN button. Get the DTC definitions here. http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html

I think POx codes are FED OBDII codes. P1x codes are manufactuers codes. And there are a bunch of P1 codes on Cadillacs.

The Northstar is unique in the GM family of V engines.

On Northstar based engines:

Bank 1 is rear / right.

Bank 2 is front / left.
