Jayjayjj
Hello All - I'm a newbie to this site and this is my first question posed. I've been reading up on the many topics here and have fixed a few problems on my 1997 Deville, but I have one that is stumping me. I'm giving the car to my 18 yo nephew, and everything is fixed but the Power Seats - the circuit breaker has popped and will reset, but pops again when the seats are moved. The horn is on this circuit too. My nephew took the car and moved the driver's seat all the way back, maybe too far, which I think started this problem. Could he have pinched a wire or something worse? Could the horn have a short which is also killing the seats? Can the breaker be replaced (it's like a MaxiFuse) - maybe it's bad? I'm not sure where to begin to trouble shoot - any advise will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance - Jeff
Jayjayjj
Anybody out there with any suggestions on what this may be? Any help would be appreciated! Jeff
Bruce Nunnally
I had a similar problem, and discovered that some wires were shorting out below the seat. I rewrapped the wires with electrical tape and the problem was solved. Jayjayjj
OK, thanks. I mean to get under the seats and look at the wrapping on the wires. Does anyone know of this short will generate a code to the computer??
Ranger
Not sure if it would set a DTC or not, but pull the codes and see what you have. BTW,
