98deville
I need to know if I can push the piston back with a c clamp or if it takes that piston tool to turn it back
Ranger
I think '76 was still the "C" clamp method.

98deville
http://www.brakeandchassis.com/img/jpg/400...021_top_gra.jpg the rear caliper is like this
KevinW
I believe that most if not all of the rear disc brake calipers that incorporate the parking brake function require special handling to retract the caliper piston. Tools are available to rotate the piston, but in some cases, a 7" C-clamp may be used if the parking brake lever and related hardware is first unbolted and removed (permitting the screw to rotate). IIRC, the 1977 manual indicates the latter is an acceptable method. ___________________________________________________
98deville
I've decided to change all calipers with reman. and also changed the other rubber hose. Now i'm stuck with the rear - It says: Vehicles with disc brakes on the rear wheels require parking brake lever adjustment after the replacement calipers are installed. How do I adjust the parking brake in the rear? It also talks about pushing in the rear pistons with a special service tool http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/brake06.pdf
98deville
It does take a tool it's one like this. I'm thinking of buying it http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXN...PMT4NO=28083667
Ranger
Save your money. That "tool" is just an over priced modification of a brake cube that you can buy for $8 - $16. That said, I don't think the '76 uses it.
