robinrules
Hi, I have a warning on my dash saying, service brake switch. Can anyone let me know how to repair waht it is saying, or fix a problem?
Ranger
Start by pulling the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). That will tell us exactly which switch is malfunctioning.
PAUL T
On the brake pedal arm there are 2 switches. One for the brakes and one for the VCC in the transmission. It could just be out of adjustment. The brake switch is the top one.
robinrules
The dash display says service brake FLUID switch. Ranger
That would be the master cylinder fluid level switch.
robinrules
That would be the master cylinder fluid level switch. I realize that it is the master cyl fluid switch. What i don't know is how can a person service a low fluid level sensing switch. Or whats involved in serving a brake fluid switch? Thanks
Ranger
Not sure as I have never had to do it, but I think it is in the reservoir and is serviceable (replaceable).
robinrules
Not sure as I have never had to do it, but I think it is in the reservoir and is serviceable (replaceable). Here are the codes i have. PCM 174 300 440 463 741 1520 1638 IPC codes 1210 u1255 Engine pings bad under heavy throttle, dispite bodybyfishers statement it can,t. Maybe a defective knock sensor but other than that it runs ok. Thanks.
Ranger
Bad sensor or EGR maybe, though none of those codes are related to either. however, I am not sure if P0174 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2 (which would indicate a vacuum leak) would help cause it. Find your code definitions here. http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html
