Manny
Hi folks, What's everyone getting for their average gas mileage? The DIC in my ETC reads at 17.5 mpg - Seems kinda low - maybe its time for me to clean/replace my O2 sensors. Resistance is futile.
Bruce Nunnally
Also a poll here with 277 inputs/results: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=522 Average mpg on the DIC / trip computer very much depends on when it was reset, and the trip / route driven, and your driving style. I always though of O2 sensors as either they work or they don't, but Logan says they can get 'lazy', so that they can be considered a maintenance item after some mileage, perhaps 100K? JohnnyG
I live in Ohio, and on some of the more level roads here, at 72 MPH, reset after attaining that speed, engine fully warm, tires at 36 psi, ambient temperature about 80° F, no headwind to speak of, I get 27.5 MPH. 30 @ 60 MPH, same conditions. I consider that peak or OPTIMUM mph to be sure, not what you would expect in mixed city driving. '99 STS Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed. BodybyFisher
This is a very difficult question to answer, I am getting about 14 to 15, but I do a LOT of stop and go and low speed driving. Gas mileage is tied closely to your Average Miles Per Hour and local vs highway driving. On the highway as Johnny mentioned I get 26+ Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
MrEl01
I drive 47.5 miles to work one way and of course the same back home. All highway miles, my car isn't driven in the city much. I am averaging 23.2 mpg. I could do better, but I just can't keep my foot out of it. Duff
Manny
Maybe I'm just being paranoid then - or looking for an excuse to tinker around under the hood. (which I started doing the first week I got the car ) It just seems that she's eating more gas than normal. I do a lot of stop and go driving as well. Especially since the Dan Ryan is still under construction. Resistance is futile.

caddypete
stop and go driving is terrible on MPG with these heavy cars. I drive 2.1 miles to work. I stop twice. Pulling out of my road I pull out into 50 mph traffic and head up a 1/2 mile incline, right there I lose 3/10 of a MPG. by the time I get to work I gain it back.Once a week I go to a meeting 42 miles away,31 miles freeway I gain about 3.5 mpg to my average mpg. By the end of the week I'm about 17.2 mpg. Without going to my meeting about 15.6 mpg. I get great mpg about 42mpg when I leave the Caddy and take the Harley
OynxSTS
When I first got my 2002 STS I was averaging less then 12 MPG If you drive these "heavy" cars HARD you will get rewarded with really lousy mileage... Now, after blowing out a tranny I get 16 MPG... BTW I also did a "highway" premium vs regular test on a recent mostly "cruise control" trip from Vancouver BC to Eugene Oregon... Drive down last Friday 25.6 MPG on 87 Octane.. Drive back on Monday on 93 24.8 MPG... Car seemed more responsive and smoother on the "high test" though my wife thought I was nuts... On 2000 and newer N* premium gas seems to have little (if any) MPG benefit.
