04 Cadillac CTS "Limp mode"

Ok, well, I havent been on this page for a while now but,, anyway last night on the way home from work my car (04 cts 3.6) entered "limp home mode" and of course the SES light came on. Does anybody have an knowledge with this? first time this has ever happen to me and to think its about a month outof warranty! any idea how much this is gonna take out my piggy bank?

No, I am not sure without more info. Hopefully a sensor went bad or just needs to be reconnected. Please let us know what the dealer or mechanic finds.

Pull the OBD II codes from a CTS from the HVAC controls and post them here. Here's how:

http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html

That will very likely tell what triggered the limp-home mode.

The 2003 CTS had access to onboard diagnostics via the HVAC, but the 04+ do not. He'll have to run a scan tool to get codes I think.
