I, just at the beginning of the wire replacement.Took pictures. Removed front plug wires and tray. Getting ready to mark the back wires before removal and noticed the positionon the coils doesn't match the Helm manual. The Front Plug wire #6 actually came off of the coil #7 spot according to the manual. I mean the eldo has been running good for three year. According to the book, More than one wire runs different than how it is hooked up. What the....

Remember that the system uses a waste spark. Each coil fires both plugs/wires attached to it, one wire/plug fires at TDC and the other is wasted. So whether a wire is on one or the other connector at a coil doesn't really matter as long as its connected to the correct coil. I hope that makes sense

Yea ,OK. On the 2 passenger side coils the wires are hooked up to the reverse posts. Also coils must be interchangeable because two don't have #'s on them (Factory?) and 2 do and the numbered ones don't match the manual positions, but the the wires (from the block cylinder number go to the corrct coil position except two are reversed post number positions. I think I said that right, and i feel ok now. THANKS If i missed something write back, I'll be checking in a little bit

Since its ok, I would just take one off and replace one at a time. The coils are interchangeable. I am not sure what you mean by this "On the 2 passenger side coils the wires are hooked up to the reverse posts", do you mean, reverse posts on the SAME coil?

The far passenger side coil is 6 and 7. They have 6 on 7 -7 0N 6, same with the next coil in , wires on switched on the posts.(same coil.0 Also, someone gave the plastic blower box a beating. Will duct tape withstand the heat. It is cracked very badly and I want to do something before putting the coil pack back on. I'm changing plugs now. Hope to get an answer soon.

Its its simply a 6 on 7, 7 on 6 on the same coil that is just fine

If you can get the housing clean enough to get the duct tape to stick I think it will be fine, however, we recently had central air installed in the house and they used a metallic tape that would even be better. You might consider mixing up some epoxy and gluing new plastic in place also.

I would opt for some aluminum tape. Should hold up much better.

That is what the AC guys used at my house, it was aluminum tape, thanks Ranger

Got some metalic tape. Pulled plugs. Bosch Plat. Look different that oem I put back. They were all about the same. Looked worn with a 55 to 60 gap EXCEPT the last one. That one looked like it had been under water and coral had started to grow all over. Real hard calcium like stuff. On both parts the spark goes between,No wetness. It had to be firing wouldn't you think because it ran well except for the high rpm miss. I'm going to try and figure out a picture of it latter. Going to install wires now.

I would replace the "coral" plug.

I would get the Bosch crap out altogether. They will never get another chance with me, I put them in an 86 Corvette and it hardly idled. Never again I threw out new Bosch Platinum plugs

I am up and running. Turned ignition and vroommmm. All wires and plugs were replaced with oem. Won't get to the fuel filter today. Test drove and the Caddy purred.I thought it ran smooth before but you can feel a difference. Chicago tomorrow. I'll know then. The GM boys designed a magnificent motor but they probably didn't realize it would run for so many miles. My fan motor plastic housing, the one I was talking about having cracks in, well.. it breaks like room temp chocolate. I lost an 8x8 piece before i realized the unit(plastic) is cooked. Tried to tape it up with the old pieces as a buffer between the tape and the insullation. I looked the fire wall over before I put everything back together and replacement does not look like an option. I want to thank everyone for their quick responses today. I would never have started this project on a Sunday morning without knowing that I am a member of a WORLD CLASS caddy site that has OUTSTANDING members dedicated to sharing their Caddy knowledge.

Thanks

Kent

Very glad to hear you got this done and that its running good. With regard to the HVAC cover, research the possibility of tilting the engine forward, there is a tool available for this purpose. I am not sure 1) if the HVAC cover can be removed this way 2) I am not sure how far a 94 NS can be moved forward using this tool. Here is the tool by Lisle:

Just a thought, Mike
