MAC
I think I know the answer to this question but I want to make sure. I want to replace both crank position sensors and I believe both sensors are the same. So to replace both I would buy two ACDelco Crank Sensors (Part # 213-345)? I get the feeling this question was asked not too long ago? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, if there is a large enough exhaust leak it could possibly throw off air/fuel mixture because the exhaust manifold 02 sensor will likely feed faulty data to the PCM? BodybyFisher
I know that both shift solenoids are the same, but I am not sure that both crank sensors are the same. When I dropped my carriage, I noticed that one was grey and one was black. I can't tell you if they are both the same however. Since they are reading a toothed wheel on the crank its possible that they are oriented differently to optimize their position related to the wheel. Just a thought. Let us know what you find out Yes, I recently read that its possible for an exhaust leak to mess up the O2 sensors readings. As a matter of fact, my crossover is looking pretty shabby and I was concerned that the reason why I was getting a code on the Bank 2 O2 sensor was because of an exhaust leak, I was happy the code did not return.. I was going to gum up the shabby looking area on my muffler system with some of that gunk that hardens when it gets hot.. BodybyFisher
I checked ACDelco's website and it shows one sensor. I guess they didn't have the other one! No really, they're the same, its just that one is grey and one is black Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
rmac-etc
The crank pos sensors changed at some point. I have a '95 etc and I thought I needed to replace them and the dealer gave me 2 different sensors, 1 black and 1 grey (if i am remembering correctly - the colors that is, they were definitely 2 different sensors). Anyway, when I removed what was in my engine, they were both black and identical. The ones that the dealer gave me were for a later model ... I took them back and realized the mistake and replaced them with 2 identical black sensors. Maybe the color is not pertainent, but the older ones are interchangeable the newer ones are not. and btw, the original sensors were not bad.
