Larry
Trying to figure my ac out. I went in behind dash, glove box, it seems controls are working right. When I disconnected the arm on control, I could switch from air conditioner to heat. Very hot through the vents. Is that supposed to be hot or just outside air. What controls the hot water from entering heater core? If my heater core was hot all the time could my ac work right? Thanks
JimD
I do not know what year Cadillac (and maybe all GM passenger vehicles) stopped using a valve to control coolant flow through the heater core. But I can tell you my '98 Seville does not have such a valve. Coolant flows through the heater core all the time. Cabin HVAC temperature is controlled by how and where the cabin air flow is directed. Thanks My -93 STS and -88 Eldo and likely your car too uses a mixture of warm and cold air to maintain the right inside temperature instead of a valve on the water circuit. I think it's great...no more sticking and leaking valves. I think I've replaced at least 3 on my Volvos I had before my Cadillacs. Even plastic ones..... The blend door along with the A/C programmer control the vent outlet temps by changing the position of the door.
