joeydax 0
Ok, need to save some money, or not. My spark plugs need changing, but I don’t have the wires, I have the coils that sit on boots, then spark plug. I have a Haynes manual, which I get the just of it. Does any one have any advice to help me with this? Is it hard to do (epically the rear four)? Any help would be appreciated. -Joey
thu 0
Do yourself a favor and DUMP the Haynes manual. Get the *real* FSM from http://www.helminc.com Edited June 12, 2007 by thu Quote 2003 Seville STS 43k miles with the Bose Sound, Navigation System, HID Headlamps, and MagneRide 1993 DeVille. Ranger 5
Follow Thu's advice. It is pretty self evident what need to be removed to get at them. The rear needs the AIR pump check valve removed to get the coil pack out. Other than that it should be pretty easy.
95SevilleSLS 0
Changing the spark plugs on my 02 was a piece of cake, except for the air pump check valve. I had a little problem getting that back on because I bent it for some reason. Make sure you have the spark plug socket with the rubber in it to hold the spark plug in for the back ones. You have to do a little wiggling to get them in, but it's pretty simple. Make sure to get AC Delco plugs too. Labss01 0
I started to change my spark plugs myself and thought I would give up until I read these comments. Thanks to your tips I did complete the job and it was not too bad, except for the air pump check valve. The spark plug socket also needs to be loose enough to get it back off the plug without pulling out the extension. 2001 Seville 100k plus miles and still going strong. You learned something and saved a pretty fair chunk of change, compared to letting the dealer do it for you.
lothos 0
Do yourself a favor and DUMP the Haynes manual. Get the *real* FSM from http://www.helminc.com You can probably get it cheaper on ebay. I kept my eye on ebay for weeks and finally found a set for my 1995 for really cheap. Quote WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! Just trying to learn. Mine has some greasy fingerprints on the covers, but all the pages are clean and complete. And I got the complete set for like thirty bucks shipped. You have to make sure to check out the seller's feedback and all that fun stuff. It also took a month and a half for me to find a deal like that. I've noticed a couple errors in my Chiltons book, but I still keep it around because it has pictures and it's easy for a beginner like me to understand it.
