Peter1972
I got a vibration that just developed between 50- 80 mph you can feel it in the steering wheel also you feel it from the floor board and console say if you had a cup of coffee in the cup holder you can see it vibrating like a bastard. It just started. Any thoughts on where to start I know it could be many things u joints, maybe drive shaft weight came off I don't have a clue. I like I said before I feel more comfortable working on a class 8 truck's than automobiles, but I do have some mechanical ability and would like to try self diagnosis and fix before taking vehicle's to be serviced at the shops for financial reasons. Thank you Peter
JimD
If this started overnight, what was done to the car yesterday or the day before? Tire rotation? Wheel weight thrown off? Hit a hole in the pavement? Rub a curb? Valet parking? Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Peter1972
If this started overnight, what was done to the car yesterday or the day before? Tire rotation? Wheel weight thrown off? Hit a hole in the pavement? Rub a curb? Valet parking? Noticed a little vibration a few weeks ago while at highway speed and I didn't think to much of it. So I don't drive on the highway everyday . So I guess you could say it has gotten worse since it was first noticed as a slight vibration a few weeks ago.
Dadillac
Have the tires balanced. Since it just occured, I would bet that some wheel weights fell off. Don "Modern warriors saddle iron horses of chrome."
BodybyFisher
I agree, a bad pot hole or bump could have bent a wheel, threw a weight, threw out the alignment or damaged a tire. Start with a good high speed wheel balance. I have my tires balanced and rotated every 5000 miles and it makes a huge difference, its like a new car when I have it done. By the way Costco does it for free when you buy a set of tires from them, balancing and rotating and nitrogen air all free....not to mention repairs... Ranger
Make sure that they put the correct weights on it. If you do a search for "Ruby's Vibrator", you'll see that I had a vibration problem. One of the problems was that they put a weight on with the wrong clip profile and it kept throwing them at highway speeds. In the end, I had to replace the tires.
