Just took the "Ghost" and had it washed today.

Came back home and did the chrome wheels myself.

They never do them to suit me.

It is looking good right now. :D:D:D

And it DID run better on the way back home. :D:D

This sounds like a furture episode of MYTHBUSTERS!

The other day, I had a full service done at the car wash, they asked me if I wanted Strawberry, Cherry or New Car Smell. I said Hell Yeah, make that 13 year old car smell like a New Car!

For the last few months my suspension has been stuck in "performance mode." Yesterday I had the left front wheel position sensor/hub replaced. Hallelujah! My car now once again rides like a Cadillac instead of a damned go-kart!

Oh yeah . . . I had it washed also. Made them take special care of the wheels.

I feel like I'm driving a new car. :D :D :D

Warren

The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I only wish my 96 boat was stuck in Performance Mode!

Thanks Jim, I used an orbital with a foam bonnet to apply the Maguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, then hand applied the polish then hand applied the NXT tech wax. It really cleans up good, I plan to do the seats tomorrow

Good job, Mike! By the way, nice racurs. Despite rug tops make Cadillacs (especially Eldorados) look special, I do not really like them. How about you, folks? Is it just me?

I don't care for the cloth top either, this one is holding up quite well. I think the top adds wind noise at high speeds. I use www.wolfsteins.com RAGGTOP and it really sheds water and dirt off

PS, adallak, what is RACURS?

Laughing...It's just you. :D

Seriously, on some cars, they look real good, and on others they look like crap.

Mikes car looks pretty good.

It may have to do with the color combination that some people choose, and, of course, the body style of the particular car that the top is on.

I saw a car like mine the other day, with chrome Vogue wheels and the gold stripe tire, with a light tan fabric top. It looked pretty good.

I wouldn't personally want it on mine, but it did look pretty darn good. :D:D

Saw another white one recently (new body style) with a BLACK fabric top and HUGE WHEELS on it... it looked "AWFUL."

All I could think of was ... "Why did you mess up that nice Cadillac?" :(

Jim I agree with the color combo, I saw my year in WHITE with a Black top, it looks nice, I also like the White with a NAVY BLUE top. My car is light butter/beige with a chocolate cloth top, not my first choice,

it's simple really, the car Appreciates the TLC and it puts it in a better mood....

either that or it's entirely psychological!

Either way I feel it every time!

i agree to that, flyin :D

I agree with Bruce's theory. I believe that the feeling is proportional to the effort/affect/enthusiasm you put in your vehicle.

My first car was a rusty old Volvo. My father who is a Volvo owner was angry with me quite a few times because I "didn't take car of my car".

I didn't feel any difference whatsoever if the car had mud up to the roof or not, until I started putting some money and work in it. Can't say that I ever felt proud of that car, or for that matter felt like I wanted to keep it for ever.

Nowadays my father says "he always have the cars shining", even when I think they are dirty :P

Besides that I would like to quote a guy I’ve worked with who is known to put a lot of effort in cleaning his Mercedes, he is really extreme. He (among other things) waxes the gearbox on his 1970-ish Mercedes. Once on a break he said “You don’t wax the gearbox?”, and then he said “there aren’t any originals (meaning original people) around anymore”:

A guy with a rusty Volvo is a poor bastard, a guy with a rusty Mercedes is white trash.

I believe that goes for Cadillac too. :D

I never present my car for service at the local garage without first stopping at the car wash. A mechanic who notices you take especially good care of your vehicle will understand you expect him to DO THE SAME.

Even if he fails to make the direct connection, I'm certain this works subconsciously as well. I never get my car back with greasy fingerprints on it like other folk. Many is the time I've seen a mechanic move my car outside and then follow up with a careful wipe-down.

I like to hope this spirit is carried over in his repairs. If it isn't, he'll hear about it. ;)

Regards,

Warren

I am thinking of taking my car to the drag strip, and washing it just prior to a run to get a comparison. Any bets that it will run faster? I guess I will have to do the first run dirty. And speaking of clean cars, it sure is irritating to spend all that time cleaning your car only to have a project arrive in your garage and not get finished so your own CLEAN car gets to sit out all night and the pos in the shop doesn't. :wipetears
