There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

Buy an STS and weld the two back doors shut?

But seriously... tough decision to be made for you.

Me, I would be just as happy with a STS as with an Eldorado.

If you are in complete control..... you are not going fast enough....

But, you see, I want a two-door where the 'B' pillar is NOT(!) at my left ear.

I like, whenever possible, to drive with the window down. In a four-door vehicle that produces wind-whip at my left ear. Don't like that! REALLY DON'T LIKE THAT.

A two-door lets me cruise in comfort with the driver's window open.

Or wait for the CTS coupe in '08 or whenever it's supposed to come out.

BTW, lowering all four windows in a sedan eliminates the "wind whip".

I hear you, I always liked the Eldorado and was sad to see it go. The fact is the marketplace abandoned the Eldorado (and just about every other personal luxury coupe out there). This type of car just doesn't sell well enough any more to justify making it. The XLR is an entirely different kind of car and not an Eldorado replacement. It's funny but the XLR doesn't sell as well as the Eldo did so, in terms of unit sales, Cadillac should have done better with a completely redesigned Eldorado.

When I had to trade my '94 Eldo, I was able to negotiate an extremely good price on my Deville. It's an altogether different car from the Eldorado, but I'm happy with it.

Keep on enjoying your Eldorados, Warren, they're great cars. When you reach the end of the line with them, you'll find something that works for you and you'll be happy with it. There are a lot of different cars out there and new ones are coming along all the time.

By all means buy another El Dorado. Here in Chicago there are several good examples every week in the Autofocus magazine. Everything from beaters to garage queens. It's easy to find an ETC as well, they were popular around here apparently.

I'll send you a magazine if you wish

I'm guessing it may be likely that they reintroduce the Eldorado because of all the other stuff GM is reintroducing, such as the Buick Super.

Warren,

I felt the same way when I opened the letter from GM that announced the Fleetwood Brougham was being discontinued...

I'm betting the CTS Coupe does not get to dealers until 2009, not 2008. It should be a good looking car, and if you need 4 seats but only 2 doors there's your Cadillac.

Warren, I'm with you.... I'm still sickened at the elimination of the Eldorado...

I have no clue what I'll do when that day comes....

If I had to say right now, I'd say I'd buy an Escalade and forget the cars completely...

4 door sedans... if that's your thing, this is your time, no doubt. For me, no thanks.

And oddly, with such an overabundance of 4-door sedans, there's still nothing out there that even remotely is as cool as a 94-96 Fleetwood....

(shakes head in dismay)... I have no idea...

Yeah, but it costs > 2X as much as the last Eldo's did, so they only have to sell half as many.. LOL

The LR is a prestige car - they probably have a unit target, and if they get anywhere near it, they're happy. I doubt whether anyone expects the XLR to jump off the lots like cars half its price....
