How do you pullthe clutch pack off the a/c compressor. My clutch pack has exploded and the bearing is gone inside the pulley. it looks to have a tapered shaft with a keyway. do i need a puller for this. and also the end of the shaft is threaded im asuming there should be a nut holding the clutch pack on.

THe factory doesnot always install a nt on the shaft as it is pressed, the threads aid the pulley install tool.

A puller and installer is needed to remove install pulley asssy from compressor, often available as a rental or loaner from auto parts stores....

Do you have the compressor off vehicle?

When you start a thread CONTINUE it, don't start a NEW post on the same subject. Its better for YOU, and it helps us understand the HISTORY.

Its best you purchase a Factory Service Manual when you perform this type of work, this way the only person you can blame is yourself. They are dime a dozen on Ebay.

Yes you are right, im always in a rush. turns out the compressor was seized anyways,so no great loss. But a lesson well learned

In the school of hard knocks, the test always comes before the lesson and tuition is high, but lessons learned are rarely forgotten.

Since the compressor is seized, be sure to replace the accumulator, condenser and orifice tube as well and flush all the lines.
