kensala313
when i was changing the themostat the other day, i dropped one of the bolts that attatches the themostat housing. after a long and frustating search with a magnet and a flashlight, i gave up and went to the auto parts store for a replacement. he gave me one the same size, but coolant is leaking like mad from that exact area where the replacement bolt goes. does that bolt need to be specific???? will the dealership sell an exact replacement? Funny thing is, right before i dropped the bolt, i was saying to myself, dont drop the bolt, dont drop the bolt, dont drop the bolt, dont drop the bolt........... never fails. adallak
Should not leak unless you dropped the stat's gasket as well. Could you possibly reverse the direction of the thermostat?? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

caddypete
Any time you are working on anything, you should put an open container of waste oil around the work area because anything dropped will fall in the oil, if you don't drop anything then you will step into or kick the container over just Murphys law.
