If you were in charge of designing and developing the next generation DTS (and Lucerne), what choices would you make?

I have always thought of the deville/DTS as the luxury/comfy boat cadillac that people buy for comfort and just to have a cadillac. I've never thought of it as a high performance sedan, that's why they have the STS. I think if they go with the rwd/high performance, they will just hurt themselves. They're going to be a little redunant with all their rwd sedans. I know a lot of elderly people in ND that buy DTS's and I know they'll be upset with a sportier suspension/rwd platform. Cadillac needs to understand that they can still compete with BMW and still have the big boat on the side. They don't need EVERY one of theirs to be "high performance."

I do wish you would have made RWD and AWD two seperate selections in the survey.

Traction control and good weight distribution have slightly limited the need for FWD and AWD, but they are still the most efficient setup available. Having said that, I think Caddy should use whichever powertrain cofiguration and body platform that will give them the highest fuel mileage from a Northstar or the new powerplant design.

I suggest they continue to offer two models, a high luxury and a sporty model....just like the old days when there was a DHS and a DTS.

The competition is out there for all to see, so this shouldn't be a big mystery to anyone. Just build one version to compete with the Avalon/Lexus crowd and the sporty version to satisfy the BMW bunch. While getting better fuel economy on the highway than either of them at the same time!

Too tall an order? Well, you asked.

Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
