Which Cadillac to take?

Recommended Posts

Which year and model of Cadillac would you prefer to drive, if you could pick any year/model, to each of the following events? Why?

to Court?

to a funeral?

to an alimony hearing?

to the golf course?

to the beach?

to the mountains?

to get the snow plow driver?

to an NBA playoff game?

to a car show?

for a 2-day cross-country trip?

Here's my picks:

to Court? 200x CTS 3.6L; calm, sensible, fun to drive.

to a funeral? 200x Deville: lots of room for passengers, great formal look.

to an alimony hearing? 1982 Cimmaron: nothing says there's nothing left like a 82 Cimmaron?

to the golf course? Hmm, Escalade or SRX -- probably go with the SRX but it's close.

to the beach? 2006/2007 XLR for top-down cruising

to the mountains? 2006/2007 CTS-V for the tight cornering and endless power

to get the snow plow driver? 2007 AWD Escalade for the ground clearance and traction

to an NBA playoff game? hmm, 2006 STS-V so I can carry 4 in style

to a car show? 2007 XLR-V, 1976 Eldorado Convertible, or 194x Convertible?

for a 2-day cross-country trip? w/family: 2007 STS V8: roomy, but good power/mpg trade. Alone: XLR.

Bruce,

That was a VERY interesting "mind exercise."

I gave it some serious thought and judged I couldn't possibly improve on your conclusions.

Although, as you said before, our garages need to be larger. :)

Ah, a summer convertible . . . .

Regards,

Warren

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I'll give this a shot:

to Court? the Presidential Cadillac DTS limo... If it goes bad I'll just pardon myself

to a funeral? 1957 Cadillac Hearse...if I'm in the back

to an alimony hearing? 1979 Eldo with an Olds 350 Diesel... makes even a Cimmaron look good.

to the golf course? 2005 Deville with "Bullet Proofing option" I hate dings and window chips.

to the beach? XLR

to the mountains? 1993 Allante.. You could actually store your skies in the trunk... coolest thing

to get the snow plow driver? 2005 AWD STS

to an NBA playoff game? 2005 Escalade with 22"s and Gold Package... Gota "Blend"

to a car show? This ones easy Cadillac 16

for a 2-day cross-country trip? Coast to coast in 48 hours? Better be big fast and comfortable 2006 STS-V... Silver or Black... Not "Speeding Ticket" Red

Well, I'm not sure there is any time that an Eldorado Touring Coupe isn't good, but, lets say I opened my mind a little....

to Court? 2001 DTS...

to a funeral? 1996 Fleetwood... black, of course. The ultimate Fleetwood.

to an alimony hearing? early 80's slope-backed Seville, rust-bucket, nasty, blowing smoke and dripping oil, HT4100 rods thumping...... nothing says "I'm truly destitute" like that does....

to the golf course? Escalade, obviously. Okay, to be honest, an Escalade is always good too... An SRX would be good here to. Eldorado as well... I love showing up at the golf course in the ETC... nothing says "I'm single, I do what I like and I drive what I like" better than a 2 door luxury coupe with exactly enough room for me and a set of golf clubs....

to the beach? XLR would be good, but the Escalade would pull my boat or my wave runners...

to the mountains? My first choice for snowy mountains would be an Escalade... the ETC is good in the mountains too though, I found out.

to get the snow plow driver? Again, if there's snow on the ground, if I have a choice, bring the Escalade...

to an NBA playoff game? Escalade... on 24 inch chromes, tunes bumpin'...

to a car show? XLR-V or CTS-V, or bonus points for a 74 Eldorado Convertible, frame off restoration, mint condition. Crazy bonus points for a 59 Eldorado Convertible...

for a 2-day cross-country trip? Escalade EXT or Eldorado Touring Coupe. While I love the XLR, it's gonna be claustrophoibic after a couple days.... an STS would be a good choice here too, or a DTS... something big to cruise.... 96 Fleetwood.....

w/family: Gotta be the Escalade ESV, the big one.... ever seen a woman pack for a weekend??? You're gonna need it....
