daniel812
my 98 SLS driver side mirror is not connected. I can move the glass manually and the power mirror does not turn the glass. The glass is not broken and still has good color. I was wondering if I need to replace the whole unit since I still hear the motor working or can I reconnect it? Also, do you know how to remove the glass from the mirror or the entire assembly if needed?
Ranger
The glass is held in place by 4 ball & socket connections. You can (gently) pry it out to check the connections and snap it back in place. Use a 2 x 4 or such when snapping it back in place so as to keep pressure equal. daniel812
What should I use to try to pry the mirror off and where are the "sockets" located in the mirror?
Ranger
Never had to do one, but I have one in my garage that came off of my daughters '99 when the mirror got side swiped. Saved the glass. The sockets as I recall are 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock positions around the center. I'd pry it with something like a paint mixing stick so as not to damage the paint.
