Checking Tranny fluid on 02 STS

Alright, I had a 95 SLS and had no problem checking the fluid while the car was running, but how the heck to you do it with the newer ones?? They have that strange oblong shaped thing that is attached to the intake hose and is right in the way of the dipstick. I found out if you take that off, you can't run the car. So how do you check the fluid without bumping it into everything before you get it out?

thanks for your help!

If I'm not mistaken you just need to remove the air box that holds the air filter. You should be able to run the engine with it removed.

Cool, thanks!

I also found that you can detach the airbox, loosen the connection at the throttle body and swing the whole assembly up, tighten the the connection and it holds itself up.

Might be a bit differant for a seville than a deville though.

The Green's Machines

1998 Deville - high mileage, keeps on going, custom cat-back exhaust

2003 Seville - stock low mileage goodness!

2004 Grand Prix GTP CompG - Smaller supercharger pulley, Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Dyno tune, etc

1998 Firebird Formula - 408 LQ9 Stroker motor swap and all sorts of go fast stuff
