NYC FRANK
Can anyone tell me how do I access the taillight bulb? (the one on the the trunk lid) I cant find a repair manual and for the life of me I cant figure out how to change it? I know it might sound like a stupid question but I need help please. The car is 2000 seville. Thanks
Ranger
Through the trunk. Pull the liner down and remove 3 or 4 screws, wing nuts or what ever is holding it in place. Once you get the assembly off, you can access the bulbs from the backside. Not like the good ole days when you could replace a lens for a few bucks and access the bulb by removing 3 or 4 screws in the lens.

The car is 2000 seville. Thanks Frank I am on Long Island. If you are going to keep that car, you should buy the factory service manual you can find them on Ebay or at http://www.helminc.com The method to change your bulb is in your owners manual, the procedure is on Page 6-41. You can download a PDF version of it. The nice thing about having a PDF version on your computer is that you can quickly search through it with Adobe Acrobat (that you can download if you dont have it).. fredz43
[] "The method to change your bulb is in your owners manual, the procedure is on Page 6-41. " Those instructions are not for changing the bulbs in the portion of the taillight that is in the trunk lid. Page 6-41 in the 2000 manual refers to the section of the talllight that is in the fender. There are no instructions that I can find that tell about the trunk lid lights. Also they list the bulb size as 3057 (in my 2002 manual), but that is not correct. The bulbs in there are 1077. I found a cross reference to 1034 at a NAPA store. I just did this job for the first time today on my 2002 SLS. The first step is to remove 2 plastic knob/screws that are securing the fabric to the trunk lid. Then you have to pry out about 4 or 5 push type plastic pins that also secure that fabric. Then pull the fabric off the trunk latch and you will be able to see what you need to get to. I found I think about 9 studs with nuts on them that secure the whole light panel. You have to remove all of them. It might have been more that 9, so make sure you get them all off. Then you have to pry the whole assembly until it comes free from the trunk lid. It will hang up on the thread of the studs, but it can be done with some patience. It is possible to only pull it out part way on one side and then get the other side almost all the way out and this will give you access to the bulb holder. Grasp the bulb holder and give it 1/4 turn CCW and it comes out. The bulb is a twist bayonet type. Replace bulb and reassemble. Quite a bit of work just to change a stop/taillight bulb but it will be easier the second time, I believe. Good luck.
BodybyFisher
Oh sorry I didnt see that he was looking at the trunk lid light, that is the LCD light bar no? Is that what you are looking for? On 6-41 the STOP and TURN SIGNAL light replacement is covered, that IS what I thought he needed. The LCD light bar is NOT user repairable IF that is what you are talking about. You can get a new light bar from one of our members LOGAN at www.ledfix.com Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

chazglenn3
There are stop/taillights on the rear fender and on he trunk lid next to the license plate. I think he was trying to change the lamps next to the license plate. Seems as though he was able to get it taken care of also. Seems we both had the same problem with burned out stop/taillight bulb in the portion that is on the trunk lid.
