Trunk Moter

Last night it was 9 degrees, my wife opened trunk and it would not catch and close. There is a little black tab inside on the trunk side ,if pushed down will run moter. It would not work when pushed last night. I had sprayed wd-40 and used hair dryer. Nothing, but went back out and started car and it soon worked. Could it be the extra amperage when I started the car. I 'm thinking the motor is weak or is frozen somehow, maybe moisture <_< . Thanks

Its probably just the cold weather. I would wait until it warms up before I replace any parts. Last week it was 10 degrees and my gas cap release was frozen shut.. The wd40 should help if there is moisture.

Mine did that just before it gave up the ghost. I picked one up at the wrecker for $30. Very easy R&R.

The upper latch switch may be on its way out - it is an inexpensive part at the dealer parts counter - about $15.
