WarrenJ
I alerted Sal to this. There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. Ranger
That surprises me as I have asked Sal before if that was OK. I asked Bruce as well and both said that they had no problem. Infact I have posted links before. Maybe things have changed. I know that they have had some upgrades. Perhaps one of them is blocking it. See what Sal says about it. Sal Collaziano
Thank you, Warren, for bringing this to my attention. The only thing I can think of as to why this domain was blocked is the possibility that someone came along, spammed us and a member of my team set up the block. I'm 100% positive that Bruce would never spam my site.. CaddyInfo.com is now unblocked but it may take a few hours as the maintenance system rebuilds the post cache. As some of you obviously know, links to CaddyInfo.com from CadillacOwners.com have always been welcome... Thanks again, Warren... Bruce Nunnally
Woot, Sal sighting! Group Hug Cadillac sells 100K+ vehicles a year. So there are 1M+ Cadillacs on the road in use. All of the Cadillac online sites together manage to address less than 0.5% (1/2 of 1 percent) of that population most days. Online Cadillac sites are not competing with each other so as much as we are trying to reach the other 99.5%. Good job again on getting a source established for this part Mike. Sal Collaziano
Thanks, guys! Hey, Bruce! Good to see ya! I hope all is well. I don't mean to take this discussion off topic - but I had to comment on what you said.. You're so right. With nearly 80,000 members, I've NEVER ONCE run into a Cadillac owner who's heard of my site. There is plenty of room on this planet for multiple Cadillac sites and forums. The only ones I ban are those who are simply in it for the money and/or who come along and spam my forum with links to theirs. It's easy to see who the true "enthusiasts" are. Bruce, you are certainly one of them. Thanks again! Woot, Sal sighting! Group Hug Cadillac sells 100K+ vehicles a year. So there are 1M+ Cadillacs on the road in use. lothos
Congrats on getting the part made BBF! I've got some play in one of my rear bushings on my STS. No way could I afford to pay 400 bucks just for parts to replace it if it wasn't a safety issue. Sixty bucks (just taking a wild guess) and having someone press it in for me isn't going to be bad at all. I'm eagerly awaiting this, and I'm sure a lot of other folks are too. JohnnyG
Good Job! One question on those rear bushings. I followed an Eldorado down the road the other day, in fact this is the second time that I've followed that same car, (sorry, it IS a small town) and it was "crabbing" to the right. By crabbing I mean that the rear wheels were not tracking true with the fronts. The rear was about 4 or 5 inches to the right of the front, with the car going straight. Would worn rear knuckles cause this? I can think of a few causes for this, like an accident (bent parts), or even a VERY BAD front end allignment, but just wondered if anyone could say that the cause could be worn rear suspension knuckles. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
Ranger
I've always called that dog tracking. His thrust angle is out. He needs a 4 wheel alignment.
BodybyFisher
Yes that is what I call dog tracking also. As a matter of fact when I see a car dog tracking I follow them, even out of my way to inform them of it. It is a very bad thing to happen, especially in wet weather. Emergency braking and turning are seriously compromised. I usually ask the person if their car is handling weirdly and they usually respond with yes.. I don't know what makes me follow people to tell them, except that I am concerned for their safety. Johnny, I believe it may be caused by one rear axle being further back than the other. It could be a bad alignment. I think most independent rear suspensions have a trailing arm and maybe it bent or the bushings are shot allowing the wheel assembly to drop back. Could be a bent part.. I have seen some people have different size tires on the their rear also. My experience with the steering knuckles is that they make noise over bumps, cause vibration on braking and I think the front and back motion damages the rotor because when it is turned the vibration is gone, but the rotor quickly begins shuttering again, They cause the body to skip side ways over bumps also. I also think that my HEAD is constantly being jerked back and forth. I can't wait to fix them to see the result.. I am not sure if I like this type of bushing, there is a reason that the ball is in the top of the knuckle. I am going to buy the $249 solution above and install them this winter and will report back my results. I really want to dispose of my Deville and want it perfect when I sell it. dgaouette
I believe that I may be experiencing the early phase of this knuckle problem. My 99 Eldo has recently developed a very bad squeak in the rear end. It can be noticed when you get out of the car. Is there something to lubrcate back there or am I the next recepient of the bushing failure. It only has 60K miles ad never seen winter. Any thoughts wouls be appreciated. Thanks! BodybyFisher
I have also seen the rear knuckle bushings make noises after you get out of the car, but they make the noise by them selves, not based on the movement of the car. It is sort of like the knuckles are making noise as the suspension settles or stabilizes itself, it sounds like a ticking noise like a new exhaust system.. its not a squeak Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
dilton_dalton
I have also seen the rear knuckle bushings make noises after you get out of the car, but they make the noise by them selves, not based on the movement of the car. It is sort of like the knuckles are making noise as the suspension settles or stabilizes itself, it sounds like a ticking noise like a new exhaust system.. its not a squeak What you may be hearing is the self leveling system adjusting the height of your car. When you get out, particularly if you have passengers in the rear seats or remove stuff from the trunk, the car lets itself down to the normal ride height. The early indication of a problem with rear knuckle bushings is a tendency for the car to wander. This tendency is most evident on the highway. As the wear progresses, there may be uneven tire wear. Eventually you can move the rear wheels with your toe. The knuckle bushings are fairly well hidden and when the problem first shows up, mechanics may decide that a wheel alignment is needed or even that there is a problem with the steering. For those who have a rear knuckle bushing problem, check out www.waltonmfg.com. We are the original (of three so far) manufacture of replacement bushings for early model front wheel drive Cadillacs.
