Help..I have checked the sensor wires and everthing seems o.k., brakes on drivers side still pushing back before the truck comes to a full stop. Looking for advise before taking it to the dealer. Has anyone out there ever had this problem.

Brakes work good normally, but just before coming to a full stop hitting the brakes lightly the ABS system starts pushing back on the pedal. Seems like the ABS is coming on but premature, the truck is not skidding, and the sound of the ABS comes only from the drivers side. It started out happening only once in a while, now it's all the time.

Looking for help

Can you explain the "driver's side brakes pushing back" symptom?

Rich, you need to remove the caliper and rotor and you will see the ABS wheel speed sensor mounted to the hub assb'y. Remove the 4mm hex bolt, and twist and pull straight up on it,you may need pliers to pull it out. Clean the surface of the hub where the sensor goes into the hub and clean the bottom of the sensor also. Apply a light film of wheel bearing grease to the hub surface, and reattach the sensor to the hub.If you break it,the sensor IS available seperate from the hub assb'y,don't let the dealer fool you...The sensor is about $90-100 bucks compared to $450-500 for the whole hub assb'y. Clean both sides, don't do just one. The reason that happens is that the rust gets under the sensor and raises the sensor up just slightly, changing the air gap between the sensor and the tone wheel built into the hub assb'y.There is a campaign issued by GM to fix the problem(recall) for what you describe...If you call your dealer and give them your VIN#,they'll tell you if your vehicle is affected.
