BodybyFisher
A few days ago, we got positive feedback in a thread about getting together in the Virginia area for a members get together. So much interest was shown that I discussed this with Bruce and he started this section. I am going to jot down some rough thoughts here. I would like us to explore and develop this further: When? Spring/Summer 2007? It is not necessary for each region to have a meeting the same day. Where? Obviously it makes sense for us to have regional meetings. Maybe we can look at the Frappr Map and see where the largest concentration of members are and create a 'region'. Maybe we can do a survey of interested members and create regions? Lets not forget Canada and Germany where we have multiple members. Maybe after we choose regions, Bruce can create sub headings under this thread for each region. Region head? I think a head should be chosen in each region to be a focal point of plans, details, etc. Events? If the Cadillac CTS-Vs are still racing maybe we can meet at that event? Heck any type of racing event would be cool. Indy cars, Nascar? If we got access to the Arizona proving grounds to watch Cadillacs run, all I can say is that I'm there... Ideas? Lets get the Cadillac CTS-V 2007 racing schedule. Agendas? Is it possible for us to get a GM rep to talk at our 'dinner' or 'lunch' regarding plans, warrantees, a tech person? How about visits to assembly plants, proving grounds, etc? I think that Cadillac would like to have feed back from Cadillac nuts also, much like they get from the Corvette crowd. Group rates for hotels? Lets first focus on the regions and get that down. Anyone who is interested please post: 1) When in 2007 you would like to get together, 2) where you live and, 3) how far you would drive (Virginia would be about 500 miles for me and I would drive it), 4) post any local events, racing venues, GM related factories, attractions, races, etc. Any other ideas you might have... We will need to compile a list, and work out regions that are reasonably convenient for everyone. Lets see what kind of feedback we get here, Good Luck Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Cadillac Jim
WHEN July 4 is always good but it falls on a Wednesday in 2007. Labor Day is September 3, 2007, and would be good. My availabilty is good except during the academic year (mid September through mid June). WHERE I'm in South Jersey, about 18 miles from Philadelphia, 50 miles from Atlantic City, 80 miles from NYC, 160 miles from Washington DC, etc. HOW FAR I would drive up to 500 miles. I want to have my Cadillac there. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS I suggest Atlantic City. It's a world-class resort with attractions that include The world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and beach. All the big hotels have beach space available for guests. Very low hotel costs, even without discounts. All the big hotels will have meeting rooms where we can have our banquet and guest speaker. Vegas-style entertainment and casinos downstairs in all the big hotels. Local airport for GM or other speaker to fly in and out. Convenient to IH95 through the Atlantic City Parkway, NYC through the Garden State Parkway, etc. Small town with no traffic congestion or strut-eating potholes, and plenty of parks and such where we can line up all our cars for a photo-op or informal outdoor get-together. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Patrick7997
Great Post, BBF... some very good thoughts there.... WHEN: Late Spring, Summer, or Early fall... I park the Eldorado in winter, so... WHERE: I personally live in Pewaukee, which is about 20 miles west of Milwaukee. About 100 miles from either Rockford IL or Chicago IL. Indianapolis is around 350 miles... the Soviet Socialist Republic of Madison is about 60 miles... HOW FAR: I'll go 250 miles for a day trip. Making a weekend out of it, with decent accomodations available, I'd go 500-700 pretty willingly. I agree with Jims 97 ETC, the whole point is to get my car there... LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: I'm not going to pretend to be the local spokesperson, or rep from the Chamber of Commerce. I will say that many (not all, but) of the decent Harley Rides and Harley events take place in decent towns on the outskirts of big cities, near interstates. Example: Chicago, no. But something on the oustskirts, like Aurora, St Charles, Geneva, Elgin... yeah, maybe. Has access to Chicago, if people are interested, but does not present the traffic problems of a downtown metro nightmare... My other thought is, sometimes these groups (Corvette, Harley) pick a medium sized town that's convenient from bigger towns. Places like Springfield, IL, Champaign IL, for example, are easily accessible from Chicago, St Louis, Indy, Milwaukee, Nashville, Cincy.... I'm just throwing out ideas here.... I'm aware of where the casinos & golf courses are around my immediate area, otherwise I have no idea.
BodybyFisher
I guess I should reply to this also: When Spring Summer 2007 Where Centrally located to best capture as many members as possible on the east coast. It should be noted that we have quite a few members in the northeast, going too far south might lose some of those members in the Mass/Upstate NY/ North Jersey areas. As many know I have a cousin in Virginia that has a 96 Deville, so I am open to Virginia also, but I might attend both a northeast and a mid-atlantic meet. How Far: I would drive 500 miles one way, I love driving My Area Amenities: New York City, very expensive, very crowded. Long Island is better but nothing worth drawing members to. In New York State we have: Watkins Glen, here is the 2007 Schedule http://www.theglen.com/buy_tickets/list_of_events/ and Lime Rock, here is the 2006 Schedule http://www.limerock.com/events_publicschedule.htm Here is a link to GM Racing (there are no 2007 scheduled events yet) http://www.gm.com/company/racing/index.jsp Here is the Indy Car Schedule: http://www.indycar.com/schedule/ Team Cadillac: http://www.cadillac.com/cadillacjsp/spotli...illac/index.jsp GM proving grounds sold and leased back? http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/printDS/125847 http://azdailysun.com/articles/2006/11/12/...ona_news_69.txt I found this info in the GM insider forum, I think I will join this forum and see if there are any options for getting GM involved in our meetings: http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38310 The Phoenix/Scottsdale area is my favorite, I hope to die there someday. If we can work out something in the GM Proving grounds (GM is very guarded about this stuff) I would love to attend something there. stsjoe
Northern Va. works, couple of new museums (Air and Space at Dulles, Marine at Quantico) but Atlantic City is always a good time! Either way I'm game. The only thing I would suggest that hasn't been mentioned is pass the hat around and get Bruce a plane ticket if he wants to attend Joe
clarkz71
Richmond, VA is about 600 miles for me. That's about as far as I would go, give or take a few miles. Sounds like a great idea. I could also visit my sister who attends the University of Richmond.
JohnnyG
I joined GM Insiders News and asked about getting GM involved, here is my posting over there: I guess we know what happened to [The Guru] then I'm still thinking Marietta Ohio for the meet, not because I live here, but mostly because it is a small town and crime is "0". Plus I have bribes. Not that I wouldn't drive to Virginia, I like that area too! I'll stop in and talk to the mayor next week, see what he has to say. We have several "events" each year, the Sternwheeler festival being the largest. For that and the ANNUAL car show, they close of several city streets for the weekend! Might be able to tie it in with the car show or the boat races. It can't be around the start of school though, (Marietta College) all the motels are full. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.

If you are implying that he is at GM Insiders, follow my link and read their posts and you will see that GM wants nothing to do with GM Insiders. PAUL T
[No, I didn't mean that he was involved with GM Insiders, I meant that given the view that GM takes of online boards, he was told to stay out of them altogether. Thats the impression I got also, such a shame, in my opinion Cadillac benefited greatly with him (the Guru) on these boards. It is one of the major reasons I still have my 94 Concours almost 100,000 miles later. When he left it was like losing a friend. I guess he made the people of GM public relations mad. FlamingGoatBalls
Who is the the guru? I hope its not who I think it is. If it is,...lets all write in to GM "public relations" and remind them that WE are the public and that taking a friend away from us is NOT good public relations. I would also drive a few hundred miles to a caddy as long as it had the good people from this board in attendence. Maybe I could even trick one of you guys into helping me chase down my coolant leak. Given the nature of most of the posts here, maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to get together from time to time just to help eachother with our car problems. : )
