Automatic Door Locks

On my 93 Deville when you put it in gear the doors lock automatically. I would likee to disconnect this feature only. I still want the remote to lock/unlock them. The gear automatic annoys me and I feel unsafe driving with it. What if you was in an accident and knocked out and no one could open the doors! :huh:

It was made to keep the doors from opening in a crash

My 1991 Seville did that and I think my 91 Eldo did it too- I wonder if they unlock in a crash

I don't like being locked in either

I wonder if that wasn't an illguided idea anyway-

I am not sure but

I think the cars with doors opening in crashes had those stupid auto seatbelts

It's possible that since the dealer can modify this system that it can be disabled altogether, I would call the dealer and speak to a service manager. Maybe someone with a 93 will have more details on this feature's ability to be modified. This is from Page 70 of 399 of your manual:
