Bruce Nunnally
Interesting article/note here: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/wind.html The front door of the CTS does not have rubber isolation all the way around the perimeter, only along the front edge and top. By adding some insulation along the rear edge, the author was able to reduce the interior noise level. The rear door have complete gasket coverage. The new STS is advertised to have a triple door gasket to help with interior noise level. Perhaps a good way to update the CTS is to use STS door gaskets; I imagine they are direct fit? davedog
i am really interested to look and see if this is the case on my SRX. It has always had more wind noise around the doors that I thought it should. Are you gonna try it Bruce? Let us know what happens if you do. I wonder how well the $2 rubber stripping he was talkig about would work. Good find Bruce! Bruce Nunnally
I would guess the SRX has weather stripping around the entire front door, so I am interested to hear what you find. Looking again at the photos on the FAQ site now though, and the cost of the STS weatherstrip that I am not certain will work, I am more tempted to simply get some add-on material from an autoparts store and see how that works. I was thinking that if the STS door is the same size and the STS features "3 layers" of weatherstripping, that would result in a better looking installation. But first I'll try add-on car weatherstripping. If that achieves the desired effect and is less expensive and less trouble to install and looks okay, then great. Still seems like an odd thing for the factory to leave off. Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
