msb113
Hello again all Today out of the blue my drivers side window decides it has had enough and wont go up... so being the calm person I am, I pounded on the door panel and it went up. So lets try it again... down it goes as normal and up is a no go, so I let it sit for 2 minutes and up it goes just fine. Okay one more test... Down like a champ and up like a ballon with a hole in it... beat on panel and nothing... let it sit 1 minute and back up she goes... By the way, Swearing at it has no effect whatsoever Do I need a new motor? Do I need a new Switch? Do I need to have an Exorcism done? Any imput would be most helpful before using the big hammer effect Thanks all Mark PS by the way this may help others... while the window is in the stuck down mode and you are at a red light, screaming, "come on ya b*stard get up... make sure there are no ladies in the car next to your with their window down as there is no way you are going to talk your way out of it as they drive away screaming Viagra! BostonETC97
Sounds like the motor. When mine are about to fail, it acts the same. If you slam the door with your finger on the switch it will sometimes get the motor off the "dead spot" and roll the window up. I've also found that on very hot days after the car has been parked in the sun for 6 hours or so, if the motor doesnt want to work, it's usually on it's way out. Just my observations, but I'm going to vote "motor." My experience with GM hand-operated switches is that they're built well. At most they sometimes just need some electrical contact spray to clean them up. Other than that, I don't think I've ever had to replace any door/window/interior switches in the past 3 GM cars I've owned.

adallak
Motor. The driver one is most used so it fails first. You can get an aftermarket one on ebay for some $25 including shiping, or swap with one from other door. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
