tuckman_21
Ok so just a few minutes ago thanks to this great site I learned how to pull the DTC codes off my 2002 DTS. Now that I have learned to do this I have a new question. What is the difference between history and current and should I clear all and run the car for a while and only be concerned with the ones that come back? (who knew it would be so confusing to own such a great car) If anyone would be so kind as to explain some of this to a very confused guy I would really appreciate it

History codes represent a malfunction that was previously detected - it can either be a one time problem that has cleared itself, or it is an intermittent problem. I would clear all codes and see if any come back after using the car for a couple of days.
adallak
Current code is one that was set during current ignition cycle. History code is one that was set AT LEAST ONCE during previous fifty ignition cycles. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
